In the heart of the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, Grand-Pré National Historic Site is a monument dedicated to Acadian culture in the 17th and 18th centuries. 2. Fort Anne National Historic Site

This is Nme’juaqnek - place of bountiful fish and a traditional fishing and gathering place for the Mi’kmaw. It became the centre of early European colonization and settlement. In the 1600s and 1700s, both the French and the British held military control here at times and fought for it at others. On this Mi’kmaw territory rich history abounds.
